One Week to JUST LIKE HOME

Are you ready to step inside?

I can’t believe it! Just Like Home comes out in just one week!

It feels like this book has been on the way forever, so I don’t know how it snuck up on me, but here we are: Just Like Home comes out on July 19th!

I am so proud of this book. I’ve never worked so hard on anything in all my life, and the result – a meditation on grief, monstrosity, and love – is something that I hope will keep you up at night, staring at the shadows in your bedroom and wondering: did that shape just move a little closer?

You can buy it! (Please buy it)

Now more than ever, your preorder is vital – not just to me as an author, but to you as a consumer! Paper is in short supply, so be sure to place your preorder now to make sure your copy is in your hands on release day!

Add Just Like Home to your tbr here. Pre-order it from your local independent bookseller, or order it via Bookshop.org to support independent booksellers throughout the US and the UK. For international shipping, you can try Barnes & Noble. If you prefer audiobooks, here’s a Libro.fm link to the audio version, which is narrated by Xe Sands. You can also request Just Like Home from your local library — here’s how to get in touch with them. And if you need to order from the Bad River Website, here’s a link that will leverage your order for good.

Where I’ll be

In the interest of safety during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, especially in light of the current BA.5 variant surge, I won’t be going on tour in person – I have a couple of in-person events planned, but my events for this book will largely be virtual ones! More details on those events will be coming soon.

If you’re in the Los Angeles area, come hang out with me at Skylight Books in Los Angeles on July 18 at 7pm Pacific, where I’ll be in conversation with the incomparable Mallory O’Meara, best-selling author of the critically acclaimed books The Lady From the Black Lagoon and Girly Drinks: A World History of Women and Alcohol.

I am immunosuppressed to the gills and really desperately want to be able to keep this event safe for me and everyone else who attends, so! If you plan on coming to a, please bring a mask and plan on wearing it the whole time. Also, if you are experiencing symptoms of a contagious illness – even if you have a negative COVID test and think you just have a cold – please do not attend any of my in-person events! Send me an email saying that you can’t come to the event because you’re sick, and I’ll mail you a signed, personalized bookplate that can go in your copy of Just Like Home with a note personally thanking you for helping keep me and everyone else safe and healthy.

Keep your eyes peeled for more information about other events, coming soon. I can’t wait to share this book with you!

No matter what you show up for, and whether you buy & read the book or not, thank you so much for letting me be in your inbox.

In the meantime, care for yourself and the people around you. Believe that the world can be better than it is now. Never give up.
