Welcome to this month’s Supper Club Scrapbook! In the Supper Club Discord, we share what we’re working on, what we’re excited about, and how we’re showing up for our neighbors. Every month, I’ll be sharing a little cross-section of what our community is up to.

How can it possibly be October already? Back when I was a weighlifter and boxer (many lives, etc) I had this incredible coach who I adored. When I'd bend over and brace my hands on my thighs to catch my breath, he would always say the same thing: Champions finish upright. What he really wanted was for me to stand up straight, put my hands behind my head, and breathe, which is a better way to get oxygen than entering Shrimp Pose – but I think about it all the time when I'm in moments like this one. The finish line of the year in sight, but so much still to do, and nothing more tempting than collapse. We can make it, my friends. November is around the corner. We can finish upright.

A few months ago I mentioned the Grape Situation in my back yard, in which my neighbors’ grapevines (mostly Concord grapes but also some green ones) try to eat my yard.  I offered at the time that if anyone on here is local and wants some grapes, I would offer them the chance to come pick some.  Well, now is the time!

kid!bex desperately wanted a charm bracelet but never got one for reasons including I never actually asked my parents for one. adult!bex has a job and apparently some childhood desires never die. The Rebecca book charm was what did me in because it's my name and one of my favorite books, but I couldn't just get one random charm so now I have a bracelet.

Had a kinda stressful week at work, but then yesterday I met up with friends for arts and crafts and I finished this silly little donut cross stitch, and today I celebrated a friend’s birthday with skirt steak tacos and sweet potato cupcakes (last was Maya May’s recipe from Personal Canons Cookbook). My friend made the skirt steak and guacamole, and I made rice, beans, tortillas, tortilla chips, corn salsa, virgin sangria, and the cupcakes. I also delivered some leftover cupcakes to some neighbor friends. Tired, but a lovely weekend with awesome people after a stressful week! (Sending this while soaking in a lavender bubble bath 🛀)

The Mariners are saying farewell to our long time radio announcer Rick Rizzs this weekend. He's been broadcasting for 41 years with the Ms and is retiring.

Enjoyed a writing retreat at Boyd’s Mill with other fellow queer writers. I finished 7 poems, submitted a story, got to advance my WIP from 60% to 80%! More importantly, I had great conversations with people I deeply love, hiked the forest meeting the local gods, and crafted a few mementos.
